Music School 2010 opened
The retiring headmaster, Simon Eliot, opened the Music School 2010 on Friday 2nd July amidst an extensive festival of music. Over 400 donors attended the opening event and lunch where there was ample opportunity to experience the breadth of Sherborne's musical output under the brand new roof of the impressive new building.
"I believe that Sherborne is not just a good school, but a great school. It offers so much, both to the very talented and to the less talented but hard-working and decent boy. It stands firm in the defence of many values which other schools have shied away from protecting and is a genuine community wherein people care for each other. It ought to be open to a wider cross-section of boys than it currently is." Richard Hodder-Williams, Chairman of Governors
Having already funded six boys through the School, Sherborne Foundation's work has already formed a very important part of this endeavour, but we are now looking to expand the programme to provide substantial aid for many more boys. We hope that many Old Shirburnians, parents and friends of the School will help us to achieve our goals.

The Foundation is working with the School to fulfil Paul Miles’ (Director of Sport), vision for the development of Sport and to culminate in a "sustainable strategy for success for Sherborne sport”.
Paul’s vision is to deliver a three to five year strategy that promotes:
• An opportunity for boys to find a sport that they can continue into adult life • A striving for excellence • A sports programme for the School that follows a continuum • A sports programme that provides a breadth of experience and an opportunity for all.
The ultimate aim will be to be regarded as the one of the, if not the, top sporting school(s) in the country with all boys achieving the best they can at whatever level in whatever the sport they choose. Sport at Sherborne sits within the parameters of a school environment where boys can undertake high quality academic, musical, theatrical as well as sporting activity for the full duration of a boy's time at the School.
The Sherborne School Foundation exists to support the development of Sherborne School, and to support its continuation as a top academic school for boys that promotes the widest opportunity and fulfilment outside the classroom.
It relies for its funding solely on the generosity and commitment of its supporters, comprising Old Shirburnians, Current and Former Parents, and other friends of the School, both individual and corporate.
The policies of the Foundation are formulated by its Trustees acting on behalf of the charity's supporters. All Trustees are substantial supporters of the Foundation in their own right.
