Patrick Shelley Recording Studio

Music schoolThe teaching and examination of music has come a long way from the days when many Shirburnians' exposure to it was the compulsory learning of the School Song - still lustily sung by OS whenever and wherever they meet.

Today, GCSE and A level syllabuses require taped instrumental recitals, and many GCSE Music Technology students want to continue their studies to A level.

Mixing deskThanks to the generosity of donors, the Foundation has been able to construct a purpose-built, state-of-the-art recording studio. This is linked to other music performance areas in the School and allows musicians to record their work professionally.

The Studio has been named after the late Patrick Shelley, former Director of Music, who taught the key donor whilst he was at the School.
