The School has a large string section which is continually expanding. In early 2004 the Music Department purchased an electric violin. This has proved very popular and can be used as a solo instrument, or part of a mixed jazz or rock group. It has also been used in class lessons to demonstrate different string effects, and as part of a topic on the marketing of music.

The Foundation has supported the Music Department by purchasing another electric violin, an electric cello and an electric viola, in order to have a full electric string quartet. Whilst we do not in any way intend to forsake the acoustic instruments, an electric string quartet has given the boys an added dimension to their creative music making and placed us firmly in the 21st century.
