Annual Fund Bursaries

The Annual Fund 2016-17 includes the opportunity to support boys who would not otherwise be able to attend Sherborne, and to support current pupils who have fallen on hard times during their time at the School and whom without assistance would have to leave.  Funding is also sought for all-round Scholarships to promote broadly talented boys.

A bursary recipient, Richard Galloway (m, 2014), pictured above, tells us of his experience:
"My two years at Sherborne on a Foundation bursary has given me the opportunity to reach for higher horizons.  My time at Sherborne has not only led to new and, hopefully, lifelong friendships but has also allowed me to achieve my ambition of a place at medical school.  Is has also offered me the chance to significantly develop in sport, and means that I have the great fortune of being a Sports Scholar at University."

Another bursary recipient, George Buckney (m, 2013), pictured right says:  "Coming to Sherborne School for the Sixth Form changed my life. I was presented with a wonderful opportunity and tried my very best to grab it with both hands. My academic performance improved significantly and allowed me to exceed my expectations as I have matured into a more independent learner. On the sporting fields, the excellent coaching allowed me to thrive and continue to develop my skills and fitness levels, whilst other opportunities presented themselves, such as growing my leadership qualities by becoming a prefect.   Above all I enjoyed coming to school every day and made a great group of friends, and I now feel more confident in my life chances.”
